Join us on FCBD in costume and enter our Cosplay/Costume contest. There will be $200 in store gift certificates as prize support. Contestants will have there photo taken and placed on our Facebook page and voting will take place the following week.

Matt's will have artists on hand throughout the day doing free sketches. Matt Ryan from Free Lunch Comics (http://www.freelunchcomics.com/), Teresa Rogers and Shanti Djelantik Rittgers (two prominant local artist with gallery exhibitions in New England) will be doing sketches for free all day long. Olof Aspelin, another local great, will be on hand painting a mural throughout the day as well as offering tips to anyone who asks. Olof Aspelin (http://www.aspelinart.com/) will be hosting an art show at our store with art from local artists. Paining will be for sale and commissions can be taken. Olof will also be on hand painting a mural throughout the day and will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about his art and tips for the newer artists.

So the rules for this game are simple. We take classic family picnic games (three legged race, etc) and put some CampAnime twists on them. Contestants will break off into teams of 4 people and compete for prizes, fame and of course bragging rights.

What’s a fan who truly loves their fandom to do when the property itself just isn’t enough? Write your own stories based on the fandom of course! In this workshop, we start with talking about the history of fan fiction in America, and move on to legal issues, critique, and avoiding the pitfalls of bad fan fiction writing. The rules are simple, we play a short 2-3 minute clip of either a really bad 1950's sci-fi movie or a really cool anime...feast or famine...people will then come up and redub the scene live as we replay it. It's fun, weird and disturbing all at the same time. Neat! Prizes will be awarded to the funniest dub.

Human checkers is always better when in costume. Two teams will compete but only 1 team will win. How does human checkers work? How do you jump someone? What happens when you get kinged and are skateboards really involved? Stop by to find the answers to these and other life mysteries at 1 pm.

From sea-side ghosts, to UFOs over the Berkshires, Massachusetts has a rich history of paranormal legend, odd events, and strange denizens. An International girls idol band that's based in the New York City area. Music is generally written and produced by Hitomi Himekawa. Music styles cover pop, J-pop, Dance, Electron, Rock, etc. Hitomi Himekawa grew up in Brooklyn with great music influences. Her father is a Romanism Pianist in NY. On the other side, she was into Japanese culture because she wants to find "part of herself and where she is from." At the age of 14, she started to compose her songs and at 17 she started to write lyrics in Japanese. Her original song list includes Rhythm of Rain, Moonlight, Rainbow Bubble and Thousand Year Loneliness, which are all loved by fans and show her knowledge of different styles of music. Now as a Raising Star, she will be working on songs that make people happy and be full of energy with her Rainbow Bubble Girls.

This is our formal cosplay contest. It will be a judged event and homemade takes precedence over store bought. So step up and show us what you got, it doesn't have to be perfect...trying is half the battle and most of the fun. Prize support will be $200 in store credit for this event.

So I have a bunch of stuff lying around my closets. Your job is to take my junk and make a cool cosplay out of it. This will be a team event and teams will be picked based on attendees. All attendees may play if they wish.

Nations will join and battle each other in the world sport of Cricket. As usual we will put a CampAnime spin on things and make it a bit more interesting than you'd think. Play for prizes, play for fame, play to become the greatest nation of all. there will be prize support for this event,

Adventure time- Shanti will be on hand from 10 am to 5 pm offering free sketches (color, background, multiple character, etc...a small fee will apply) she will also be autographing copies of Adventure time and selling prints and will have a selection original paintings on display and for sale. Shanti Rittgers is an illustrator and visual development artist based in Stafford Springs in Northern CT. In 2012 she earned a BFA degree in Illustration, concentrating in animation, from the Maryland Institute of Art. She aspires to build charming, fun and exciting worlds and characters for games, comics, cartoons and e-books. Much of her inspiration comes from cultural folklore, fauna and flora of the world and layered, collaged media. Outside of art, she is a dedicated hiker, plant hoarder, and occassional trans-continental adventurer. Shanti is available for freelance and in-house work opportunities. Teresa Rogers will be on hand from 10 am to 5 pm offering free sketches (colors, backgrounds, multiple characters, etc will have a small fee) Teresa is a mixed media collaborative community artist. She received her associate’s degree in Visual Fine Arts with Manchester Community College in 2008. She then relocated to Savannah GA and has worked closely with the Savannah College of Art and Design community. She is currently in central Connecticut and has been a resident artist for the nonprofit collective known as Studio4 in Stafford Springs since 2013. She is also a co-founder for the annual group art exhibition State of Elation at the Hartford Artspace since 2013. She participates in monthly community art shows for Stafford Arts on Main and Manchester Arts on Main. The majority of her works are illustrations, paintings, installations and murals.
