Nick Spencer: It's one of the first adventures for Steve Rogers, who is back in the role of Captain America, have recently been restored to youthful vigor in AVENGERS STANDOFF. It also features Sam Wilson-- who will continue to serve as Captain America as well-- Sharon Carter, Rick Jones, and worst of all... The Red Skull! Cap's biggest foe is back, and he's got terrifying plans for Hydra.
Free Comic Book Day: What has been your favorite part of the book or character to tackle?
Nick Spencer: I've really enjoyed writing Sharon Carter. She's a character I haven't previously gotten a chance to write, and she's a very interesting place in this book.
Free Comic Book Day: What initially got you interested in comics?
Nick Spencer: I grew up with them-- my dad was a hardcore Marvel fan, and got me in early.
Free Comic Book Day: What other titles would you compare to yours? “If a comic reader likes _______ , they should pick up my title?"
Nick Spencer: Well, obviously if they're enjoying Sam Wilson: Captain America this book can be a great companion to that-- the two should complement each other nicely, especially as we go on.

Nick Spencer: This story starts us down a road that will have a real, lasting impact on the Marvel Universe. It's the beginning of a major storyline that is poised to be the biggest thing I've ever done at Marvel. This is the ground floor for that!

Nick Spencer: It's always exciting to see big crowds at the shops, and so many kids checking books out, especially.
Free Comic Book Day: Where do you plan to spend Free Comic Book Day?
Nick Spencer: Haven't quite decided yet, but I'm sure I'll hit one of the shops in Los Angeles and pick up some books for myself.
