Comic Book Artist Skottie Young Designs Free Comic Book Day 2014 T-Shirt
Apr 25, 2014
Diamond Comic Distributors is excited to announce the commemorative shirt for Free Comic Book Day 2014 has been designed by well-known, fan favorite artist Skottie Young! The shirt is available for pre-order from your local comic book shop and is scheduled to ship April 9th.
Critically acclaimed comic artist and illustrator Skottie Young has been designing comic book art for years, most recently creating funny and charming Marvel Variant covers featuring famous “baby” Marvel characters. For the Free Comic Book Day shirt, Skottie created a shirt that captures the excitement that comes out of reading comics and the meaning of what free comic book day is all about. “I just took the spirit of the characters we all love from comics and tried to capture them,” explained Skottie.
During past Free Comic Book Days, Skottie has made appearances at comic book shops for signings, and participated by getting himself free comics as well. “I love comics and a day where a ton of them are free, that's exciting. I see it as a day of discovery for new readers, so that was my point of view when designing the shirt. A kid, new to the world of comics, looks over his shoulder and is shocked by the world he's found himself in!”
The FCBD shirt is available in black, white and red, in adult small to XXL and youth sizes small to large, for fans to get ready for the big day. All proceeds go to support Free Comic Book Day’s marketing and promotional efforts. Skottie’s artwork is also available as a commemorative poster to remember the fun and excitement of 2014’s FCBD festivities.
The commemorative Free Comic Book Day shirts from Skottie Young, the poster, plus the complete listing of all sixty FCBD titles, can be found in the January issue of Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog, on sale at all comic book shops December 31, 2013.
