Interview with Comic Artist Corin Howell
Nov 01, 2013
Corin Howell is a comic artist whose talents are being showcased in the new "Ben 10 Omniverse Halloween Special," available during Halloween ComicFest. Due to the comic being wordless, Corin brings the artwork to life through her attention to detail and imagination, creating and establishing the character in her own special way. In the interview Corin talks about the comic, its artwork, her Halloween memories and gives a sneek peek into what she is working on for the future.
HCF: What can we expect to see in terms of story and art in your Halloween ComicFest title?
CH: I worked with having absolutely no dialogue in the comic, depending on expressions, silhouettes, and movement to get the story across. So expect to have a silent comic with characters doing some funny antics.
What is your favorite part about your comic?
CH: The aliens. I really enjoyed drawing the aliens in transformation.
Tell HCF fans why they should pick up your comic first during the event.
CH: Because its a fun-filled, silent comic with Ben 10!
What is your favorite Halloween memory?
CH: When I was a kid in elementary school, there was a halloween when I was able to stuff two pillow cases full of candy. That lasted us the entire year. Best Halloween ever.
What is a Halloween tradition you have?
CH: Now, I prefer to go out with friends to Halloween parties and have ourselves a horror movie marathon.
What are you going to be for Halloween?
CH: This year, I'm not sure. I'm stuck between Agent Scully from X Files, or Black Widow.
HCF: What other titles would you associate with your HCF book? "If a comic reader likes __________, they should pick up my title?"
CH: I'm not quite sure what could be associated with my comic other then more Ben 10.
HCF: Do you have any favorite Horror or Halloween themed comics?
CH: I do, and I am a big fan of the classic EC Horror Comics, especially "Tales from the Crypt".
HCF: Are there any comics that you are looking forward to getting on HCF or in the near future?
CH: I would definitely like to do more Ben 10 comics!
HCF: Any teasers about upcoming books or who you might be working with next?
CH: Well I do have my own series called "Brushes" that is out. Its more of a father-daughter, slice of life comic that also plays heavily with character expressions and movement. I also make the stories funny, cause I enjoy comedy in a story. Keep on the look out online, and you'll be sure to find some silly stories involving my original characters!
