McCully-Moiliili Public Library (Honolulu, HI)

McCully-Moiliili Library's Free Comic Book Day was a wonderful event and we gave out about 150 free comics! (We picked the Star Wars, Bongo, Batman, Marvel, and Owly titles.)  We were very lucky and worked with Collector Maniacs, our local comic book store.

Our patrons of ALL ages were just delighted about getting a free comic.  Many, who had never stepped foot in our library before, showed up and got a library card (that they had to show to receive their comic). 

What I personally enjoyed so much was promoting my library with a different and interesting event.  Libraries and comics are similar in that the general public has pre-conceived notions about them.  By hosting FCBD we help to break the stereotypes that libraries "just have books" and comics "are just for children."
