11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
For over twenty four years, Danny Miki has built a solid reputation as an inker and entrepreneur in the comic book industry. He started his career in 1990. He began as an assistant on Uncanny Xmen and Xmen during the Xmen: Mutant Genesis era and then moved onto Image comics where he joined Extreme Studios. Wizard magazine had an inking challenge in which artist Greg Capullo had drawn up a piece for selected inkers to show the diversity of inking styles. This first encounter with Capullo changed his state of mind on the way he currently inked. At that time Capullo was having his run on Spawn. Shortly after Miki would join forces with Todd McFarlane helping with the inking chores on Spawn. Eventually he was onto Curse of the Spawn and Capullo’s first Creech arc. Which led back to inking Capullo’s Spawn run full time. Miki also co created the look of Curse of the Spawn. His version of the character became the first Curse of the Spawn action figure. It was Joe Quesada of Marvel Knights who led him to Marvel. His Marvel career began with various covers over Quesada and inking Ghost Rider full time. From there he’s inked almost every main character in the Marvel universe. While at Marvel, his most prominent titles was with David Finch on Moonknight, Avengers and New Avengers. Other projects included a Kevin Smith story for the New York Times magazine, an opportunity to work with DC Comics, TMP, Wildstorm, and Top Cow. With multiple award nominees he had the great opportunity to work with Neil Gaimen and John Romita Jr. on Jack Kirby’s the Eternals in which he received the Harvey Awards Best Inker for that title run. Miki also illustrated CD covers for Iced Earth and Demons and Wizards. After going excusive with Marvel Entertainment he became CCO Joe Quesada’s exclusive inker and kept up his work on numerous titles. Miki’s Crime Lab Studios has had the pleasure of inking Stan Lee, Todd McFarlane and Yoshiki’s Blood Red Dragon. Miki is the creator and owner of several properties which include WARCRYTM, the SAMURAI KOIMANDOSTM and the EDUSKATERSTM. Which leads us to the present, fourteen years later and back full circle once again working with Greg Capullo and currently exclusive with DC Entertainment on BATMAN.
